INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE

Welcome to the International Olympic Committee! Since its establishment in 1894, the IOC has served as the central authority for the modern Olympic Games, overseeing the organization of all Olympic events and fostering collaboration between all Olympic stakeholders. Hosting 206 National Olympic Committees, the IOC secures each nations' participation. Not only are the nations' participation taken into account, but dozens of international sport federations are managed as well. While the IOC is most notable to the general public for its role in awarding medals to athletes, it has many other important functions that ensure each iteration of the games is smooth and successful. From coordinating with the Organising Committees for the Olympic Games (OCOG) to ensuring the thorough application of the Olympic Charter, the IOC does it all! We invite delegates of all experience levels to join us in an exciting debate surrounding the intricacies of the IOC and its essential role in the Olympic Games! Let the games begin!

TOPIC: THE ADDITION OF NEW SPORTS INTO THE OLYMPIC GAMES

MARIA FNU: DIRECTOR

MEET YOUR DAIS

Maria FNU is a Senior at Newport High school and is honored to be serving as your Director at IOC 2025! She joined MUN as a confused sophomore trying to get involved at school but soon fell in love with all it had to offer. From the chaotic remarks in debate to the serious discussions within the committee she loves it all. She hopes to study pre-law and political science in college as MUN opened those doors of interest for her. She wishes to offer delegates the same wonderful experience of law and international relations as she had. When she’s not in MUN you can find her stressing over college apps, planning events for senior class leadership, or simply with her friends getting boba (QQ passion fruit is the best boba drink obviously). She is absolutely thrilled to be a part of the NSDMUN community and looks forward to meeting all the wonderful delegates this year!

Sofia Lapinski is a Junior at Inglemoor High School and is ecstatic to serve as your chair for NSDMUN 2025’s International Olympic Committee. She began her MUN journey as a nervous freshman in 2022, stumbling her way through her first committee, but quickly grew to love the organized chaos that is MUN. When she’s not scrambling to finish her position paper before the 11:59 pm deadline, Sofia can be found playing the violin in her school’s orchestra, creating an ungodly amount of Spotify playlists, and struggling to survive her school’s IB program. She is looking forward to meeting each and every delegate and having a wonderful iteration of NSDMUN.

SOFIA LAPINSKI: CHAIR

David Mun is a Sophomore at Woodinville High School and is honored to be serving as the Assistant Director of IOC in NSDMUN 2025. Starting as a delegate that wished for the demise of his fellow peers, he continued to diminish the chances of others obtaining an award at the cost of his own gain. The only reward sweeter than Best Delegate was the delicious tears of his opponents. As time went on, David realized that sometimes one must focus on his own gains rather than the demise of others. Taking this newfound virtue he strives to deliver captivating speeches and remarks that will further push the progression of new delegates. He adores playing the cello and enjoys teaching others new things. When he is told that he is wrong, the opposition is wrong. Hoping for a great conference, he would love to welcome everyone new and old into NSDMUN 2025!
